This is what the finished project will look like when it's finished. This is a great project to do with the kids. The solar lights get put through the top, make sure you take the stake that you use for putting in the ground off the light.
This is a Gatorade bottle, it doesn't matter which flavor. But make sure it's the personal size.
This is what the bottle looks like with the plastic wrapper removed.
This is how the two pieces will go together. However don't do it yet you will see how the bottom of the house needs a door cut out and spray painted. The bottom piece gets flipped upside down, so the bottom of the bottle faces upward. The top of the bottle is the top of the house.
Don't spray paint the piece until you've read through this blog, some of the wet paint areas need to be wiped off on the window areas while its still wet.
In this picture you will see I spray painted this house red, then cut out a door, pay close attention to the photo it shows you where to cut it for the door. Don't discard the piece you cut out, you can get an extra window out of the raised square which gets glued to the top piece.
You need to take one of the antibacterial sheets and using your pointer finger wipe the wet spray paint off the squares which are going to be your windows.
Now glue the top down to the bottom piece, as you can see in the picture I also glued the extra window piece on the top piece which I kept from the door area that I cut out.
Now for the fun part paint it any way you want, don't paint over the square windows!
When the house is painted, add a plastic top from any bread crumb container or any other top to the bottom for a base under the house. I spray painted mine blue to match the house on this one. Then make sure the house is glued down to it. If you want you can glue in a little fairy statue on the inside before you glue the base down, or decorate. Use your imagination! You might want to spray a clear coat on this if you will be keeping it outside to protect the paint. A child can use this for a centerpiece and build a fairy flower garden around it. Remember you can use different things from recyclable plastic items to create other items for your fairy garden.
