A guitar, amp and stand for the guitar made with beads, box, dowels anda spatula

This is the spatulas that I bought from the dollar store, I'm using one to make the guitar.

The first thing I did was get a picture off the Internet of an electric guitar so I had a template.

I drew an outline of the guitar on the spatula.

This is what spatula looks like after you cut it out to look like the guitar.

I wanted a red one so here it is after spraying it.  I also added some silver beads for the knobs for the strings.

In this picture you will see the guitar which I added some beads on the right side of it to look like knobs.  I also painted strings and painted a design on the guitar.  I went on the Internet and looked up electric guitars to get an idea of things to put on it.  I also took a piece of plastic coated wire and painted it black for the wire part.  The amp is made up of a wooden box, beads and paint.  The handle on top is a piece of black cardboard from a package which I crumbled up a little to look like a handle for the top of the amp, I used pieces off earrings to put on both sides of the handle. The stand is made of dowels and plastic.

A drum set I made from containers, earrings, wood dowels, beads, metalbuttons etc.

I also used a doll stand for the two drums on the top.  The big drum is made from a container that held packets for making koolaid.  The top drums are made from decorative ornaments that I bought from the store last year during the holidays.

Another dollhouse

This is the bathroom area in the dollhouse I'm working on.  The floor is made from a bamboo placemat I purchased from the dollar store.  I painted the walls green and put in wainscoting.  The wainscoting is made from Popsicle sticks.

This is the front entrance way.  I also used bamboo for the floor.  I made the railing from fork toothpicks and wood pieces for tops and bottoms.  The shutters are made from Popsicle sticks. The lights on the poles are pieces from earrings.

In this picture you can see a hanging planter and a stand up planter I made for this house.

This is the other side of the porch area.

In this picture you can see window boxes I made for the top windows and a sign which has a bird on top of it.  I will be posting different items I make for this house as I do them.

Making a sink, toilet and a bathtub out of one suave shampoo bottle

In this picture you can see where I cut off the top to make the toilet.  I cut around the cap to design the toilet seat area.  Then I turned the piece sideways.

This is looking down onto the cap, you can see how I shaped the top.

This is what it looks like with the toilet seat up.

In this picture I spray painted the toilet gray.

This toilet needed a toilet bowl so here it is.  I took the ring out of this carton.  This is what the ring looks like in the carton.

This is the ring after I took it out.

I used just the bowl looking piece and cut off the ring. I glued it down to the toilet.

These are the next two items you need to make the toilet water. Tacky glue and food coloring dye.

You take some of the glue and add a little blue dye to it.  Mix it together.  When this dries it feels like a hard jello.

Next is the bathtub.  I cut the bottom off the shampoo bottle and gave it a little bit of a design look.

I then took a pipe cleaner and glued it around the top.

I spray painted it gray to match the toilet and added legs to the bottom, the legs are plastic chess pieces I bought at the dollar store.

I also put in some of the tacky glue mixed with blue dye.  The drain is a snap you can get in any sewing area.  I bought snaps at the dollar store.

In this picture I cut out a piece from the bottle which was the middle.  I also cut a piece of foam board and put it inside the bottle and hot glued around the foam board on the inside.  I also added a piece of foam board on the bottom.  I then put in some of the tacky glue mixed with dye for water in the sink.

In this picture you can see looking down into the sink. Next picture you will see what it looks like with metal pieces for the drain.  You just place these pieces in the sink after the glue starts to harden a little so they don't sink down into the water.

In this picture you can see the two metal pieces I used for the drain.  I also cut a piece of foam board for the top sink counter.  I painted the foam board gray and added two size silver beads on top of each other to look like sink handles.  After painting the top i put on modge podge and used the paint brush to pick up black sprinkles and put them on top and sides of the counter.  after it dried i added some more modge podge. The faucet is a piece off a ladder for a birds cage I used the hook part that holds the ladder to the cage.  I painted it silver to match.

This is the back of the sink I made it look like water dripping off the back of the sink, I used the hot glue to make a drip of water.

Here's some other toilets and tub.

Here's the sink and toilet.  There are also feet on the sink cabinet made of chess pieces.  I also added some wood trim for doors and beads for handles. I added red tape around the bottom.  I hope this gives you some ideas what to use a shampoo bottle.

A stove/sink for your dollhouse to make yourself

This is a sink/stove I made for a dollhouse.  This is made from a rectangle box that has a sliding door on it, I bought this box at AC Moore.  This box makes a great base to start your appliance.  First I took off the sliding door and made the opening the top.  The sink and stove top used to be items in a Barbie house.  At garage sales people sell odds and ends from different plastic dollhouses that were out off the Barbie dollhouses etc.  in the left side of the box I cut the sink down so it would fit into the top of the box, I painted the sink silver to look like a stainless steel sink.  On the right side I glued the top of a toy stove piece that I bought from a garage sale.  I painted the stove top black, it use to be pink.  I also painted the burners silver.  In the middle I cut a piece from the sliding wood piece that I took out of the box for a counter top.  I glued on a piece of scrapbook paper that looked like tiles.  On the back of the stove top area I cut another piece of the wood to be a backboard and glued on scrap booking paper again.  I also added a shelf made from square shape dowel and a piece of flat wood.  For the oven window I added a piece of hard plastic that had ripples in it.  I also a silver frame around it.  I painted the wood box in the area of the whole stove black. The handle for the cabinets and stove is made from a silver stick from a children's toy from the dollar store.  It used to be a silver wand with a star on top.  I also used different sizes of wood to define the cabinets and countertop.  You can see a pie on the countertop which I made in another of my blogs. Also you will see a pot on the stove which was another blog I did.  The faucet a handles are beads and pieces of plastic that look like a faucet.

Railings for a dollhouse made from fork toothpicks

The first thing you need for these railings is this kind of wood you see in this picture.  You need this wood to make the top and bottom railing that the fork toothpicks go into.

These are the fork style toothpicks.  I bought them at a dollar store.  You need to cut them right above the fork spikes.  They both look like legs, which need to be cut off, I use wire cutters to cut them.

If you look at this picture I cut a top and bottom railing from the wood.  You can also see some dots I made on the wood showing where I want to place each spindle.  You can also see the toothpicks without the leg areas taken off.  First put glue in the railing and place toothpicks in the railing in the areas that are marked off for the spacing.  Let this dry first before doing the same thing with the bottom railing.

In this picture you can see two sets of railings without the bottoms installed.  Be patient and let the top dry first.

In this picture you can see the railings, I painted them white.  Also in this picture you can see four posts on the porch which hold up the roof.  The posts are made from wood from a wooden baby gate.  I also put some buttons on the top of the posts for decoration.  The buttons have ship anchors on them.  I also used different left over pieces from other dollhouses I worked on to make the red decorative pieces on the porch.  I will be making some shutters for the windows in my next blog, keep watching for it.

A trellis for a dollhouse

This is a back view of the trellis.  The base is the bottom of a small wooden box.  The black trellis is a piece off a tomato container.  The frame around the tomato container piece is pieces off a bamboo placemat which I took apart for the pieces.  Inside the wooden box is styrofoam to be able to put in some fake roses and leaves.

In this photo you can see what it looks like in the front.  These bamboo pieces that I got from taking apart placemats can also be used for bamboo flooring for a dollhouse.

Making a table and umbrella set for your doll house

This is one of the items you will need for the table part.  This is the bottom of a plastic container from having a salad from a fast food place.

You also need a plastic table cloth, I bought it at the dollar store.

I bought this from the dollar store.

I cut out a circle from the table cloth larger than the plastic circle piece.  This is going to be the table cloth.  It needs a hole punched in the middle to put the umbrella pole through.

This is the plastic circle which I put a hole in the middle.

In this picture I glued to plastic table cloth to the top of the plastic circle.

First I took a milk cap and put it on the umbrella pole, then I slid on the circle piece.  Next is another milk cap, this holds the table into place on the pole.  The white piece gets put on the bottom which is the base.  Next picture you will see the table umbrella on top of the doll house.

This is what it looks like. The black fence to the left is made from a container which you purchase three tomatoes in.  I used the sides and bottom separated.

Making a water fountain for a doll house

In this picture you will see some of the items for making this water fountain.  On the left the pieces I put together starting from the bottom are, first the gold piece is the bottom of one of those battery operated candles you put in the window at christmas time, on top of that is a collapsible cup item (you can see the package it came out of on the right. On the inside of the fountain you will see what the piece is in the next photo.  On the very top is a plastic chess piece.  All these pieces I purchased at the dollar store.

This is the piece that I added into the fountain that I mentioned above.  I cut it from the large round area and used the top piece.

In this photo as you can see after gluing all the pieces together I spray painted it red.  I also took some blue sprinkles and mixed in some modge podge to it, I then let it drizzle down the fountain.  When the glue dries the only thing you will see is the blue sprinkles that look like water coming out of the fountain.  I also added a bird.

I then painted some areas with gold paint for some detail.  I hope this gives you some ideas.  In the next picture you will see what it looks like on the dollhouses garden roof.

The black fence around the top is made out of a ladder for a birds cage.  These plastic bird ladders I painted black and glued them to the top.  The pattern looking lights are tops from night lights which I glued to round dowels to look like lights on top of the roof.
