Older lamps made a new, just unique!!!!

In this picture you will see one of the old lamps which I'm using for this project.  I will only be using some of the parts off this lamp as you will see.  I used the smaller pieces on this lamp to make up a nice decorative piece for the top of the project.

In this picture is the other lamp I will be using.  I will be using this whole lamp, however I will be taking out the electrical units.  This lamp doesn't have much to it but when I'm done with it, it will look unique!!

The bar that comes out the side of this lamp I had to drill a hole in it to hold a metal bar so I could install an item.

this is what it looked like when I drilled a hole in it.

This is another view of the hole.  You can also see the end of the bar which still has the electrical part that holds a fixture which I will be taking off.

In this picture you will see a lantern looking item which was used to hold a candle for the outdoors.  However, if you look on the inside I drilled a hole in the middle so I could install it on the bar with a threaded bar and bolts.  You can also see another part off another lamp.

In this picture you can see the hole I drilled in the candle holding item.  There is a little glass door which opens in the front of this item.  This makes a great piece to put anything in to display.

This is the other item I'm showing it close up so you can see what it looked like before changing it.

In this picture you can see the bar on the lamp and I put the bar through the hole in both pieces.  I also added a metal spacer on the bottom to take up some space.

I also added the candle holder on top and bolted all the pieces into place.

This is what the bar off the side of the lamp looks like at this time.   It still has the electrical piece connected at the end which will be taken off.

In this picture you will notice I have added different pieces from a lot of different lamps.  I also spray painted this item with gold and black outdoor paint.

This is what the inside of the candle holder looked like when I hot glued a candle ornament over the screw and bolt area.  As you can see in the middle you can see the bar in the middle.  This item used to be an ornament that plugged into a light set for the holidays.  the wires were removed.

After adding two small solar lights to the top of the candle holder in two small holes now they will light up inside the candle holder.  I also glued down beautiful glitter on the inside of the candle holder so when the solar lights light up it will look like diamonds on the bottom under the fake candles.  Also On the long part of this lamp I also installed a light globe with the top of a solar light in it.  This solar light changes colors from green to red to blue at night.  I also added two plastic gold flower decorations to the lamp on both sides.  These two gold flowers use to have screws in them and were used for holding back curtains.  They make beautiful additions to this project.

This is a close up of the top of this project.  I also added some red beads.  If you look in the center on the bottom area you can see the fake flower on this side.  There a two of them on this, one of each side.

This is another close up of the top.  There are five different pieces from the other lamp to make up this decorative top piece.  Also the glass globe from another lamp fixture.

This is a close up of the side decorative item.  On the inside of the candle holder is the fake candle trio which was an ornament.  I also added some nutcrackers between the fake candles so I could hide the screws and bolts.  There are three nutcrackers hot glued on the inside.  there is also glitter on the floor.  You can also see the red beads that were installed and the two tops off the cheap solar lights.

I tried to get a close up of the nutcracker men on the inside and also the beautiful glitter that looks like diamonds when light hits it.

This is another close up view of this item.

This is the top of the solar light which is in the light globe on top.  The items I used for this project were not nice looking at all but with a little imagination they were turned into something unique.  Remember just because a lamp is bland and old looking doesn't mean it can't be changed into a one of a kind item.  I hope this project gave you some ideas.

Ahoy yea matties, ship with solar light at night.

In this picture you will see the lamp I will be using for this project.  There is also two other pieces which came from two other light fixtures, I will be using these also.

This is what the lamp looked like after I took the whole thing apart.  I also took out all the electrical items.

In this picture you will see another light which I took apart, the pieces from this item are around it.  This light has beveled glass.  If you have been watching my blogs I have used these type of lights before.   After taking it apart I washed up the glass and spray painted the whole thing with black exterior paint.

In this picture you will see that I put all the pieces back together again with the metal bar which held the lamp together,  However, I also added the other light fixture on top that has the beveled type glass.

In this picture I added the piece which you saw in one of the top pictures that had three prongs and a small circle in the middle.  I took out the three prongs and also the small circle.  This piece fit nicely on the top I put some hot glue around the top to hold it better.  Then I added a lamp globe which was from another lamp.  I topped it off with the top of a solar light.  The bottom of the solar light I kept to use for another project in the future.

This is what the project looks like on the bottom.

On the inside of this light fixture which has the beveled glass I added round green decorative pieces which look like the floor of the ocean.  On top of some areas of the decorative pieces I also added some fake looking tall grass which looks like plants from under the sea.  There is also a piece of netting material which hangs over the front on the inside in front of the ship.  In the middle I put a round decorative mirror which I love to use for a stand for statues and other items.  On top of the mirror I hot glued a ship and made sure the front of the ship was tilted upward.

This is what the top of this project looks like, you can see the top of a solar light.  I also added some thick braided type rope material around the top area.

I'm hoping you can see in this picture the ship, netting and round decorations.  It reminds me of  The Pirates of the Caribbean.  When the solar light lights up it looks kind of spooky.

This is what the project looks like finished.

I'm hoping in one of these pictures you can see the inside better.

This is another view of the inside top area.

This is another view of this item.

Here is another view of this item.  I had fun creating this project.  For any of you out there that love ships, boats etc. this would be a great item to add to a collection.  I hope this project gave you all some ideas.

Old Grecian type oil lamp turned into a unique piece.

This project I'm going to show you, is what you can do with those old Grecian Oil type lamps.  In this photo you will see I have already taken it apart.  However, when you take one of these lamps apart you will be surprised how much oil it has accumulated through the years, so you will need to clean out the whole thing after it's taken apart.  But it's worth it !!!!

In this picture you will see the bottom piece for the lamp which was washed out good and all loose paint scraped off.

In this picture you will see the lamp after I spray painted it with hammered gold spray paint.

In this picture you can see I added some rocks, fake vines to the poles and some red berries.

In this picture you will see the inside top of this item.  Note the holes in the top, these holes once held the fishing type wire for this lamp which I removed.  I will be using these holes for something else as you will see.  There is another piece that goes over top of this as you will see in the photos that follow, so you won't see these holes or anything you add to this area.

These are mini ornaments which I will also be using.  I bought these at a garage sale as you can see on the package.

I will also be using these crystal looking decorations.

In this picture you will see the inside of the top which has the holes.  I used one of the crystal looking ornaments in this photo.  The wire I will be using is wire which holds the ornaments on a tree.  I connected the crystal looking item on one end and ran the wire threw the hole then attached it to the little ornament that I bought from a garage sale.  I did this so I could hang up the crystal ornaments and not worry about it falling down, this worked out great.

In this picture you can see the crystal looking ornaments which I hung around this lamp.

I also added some red paint in different areas, and also some green round decorative  pieces.   In this photo you can see the top and bottom pieces that cover the top and bottom plates.  You can not see any of the ornaments that were used to hold up the crystal looking pieces.

In this picture you can see the decorations better.

In this picture you can see what the top portion looked like after I was finished.

In this picture you can see what the bottom looked like after finished.

This is what the finished project looks like.   this piece looks beautiful in a garden setting.   I wanted to show everyone that the old oil lamps can be made into something unique and decorative.

In this picture I just wanted to show you what it first looked like.  It's hard to show you how beautiful it turned out.  the crystals glimmer in the sunlight making it look like a rain shower.

A little praying angel boy w/solar light

In this photo you can see the lamp that I'm using for this project.  I'm not using all the parts of this lamp as you will see in the other photos.  I will use the rest of them in another project.

In this photo you will see the parts of the lamp that I will be using.  I took out all the electrical wiring.

In this photo you will see a piece off another lamp that I will be using.

This is the lamp glass shade that I will be using for this project.

In this photo is the metal bar which comes inside of a lamp.

This is another piece off another lamp which I will be using for this project.

This is the solar light that I will be using the top portion.

This is a circle mirror that I will be using for this project.

This is a statue of a boy angel with glass wings that I will be using for this project.

The first thing I'm going to do is hot glue the little angel on top of the decorative mirror.

The next thing I did was glue the angel which is on top of the mirror onto the top of one of the lamp pieces which I showed in the beginning.  Now I have a base for the angel.

Next I hot glued the whole entire angel setup into the glass globe that I'm using for this project.

Next I took the lamp parts with the metal bar installed in the center as you can see in the picture and started to add the different lamp pieces onto it.  I also took this outside and spray painted it a hammered gold color.

I also added another piece of a lamp onto the top and painted it the same color.

You can see in the picture looking down into the piece that I have the bar with a bolt installed to hold all the pieces together.

Next I put the whole glass globe which has the angel in it on top of the piece I put some hot glue to hold it sturdy.  I also added a little white dove on the left side which I have connected to a pipe cleaner and glued to the inside of the glass.  The bird looks to be flying.  I also added some red beads.  Also in the picture you can see the top of the solar light which I put on top with the little light hanging down over the angels head.

You can see the base of this item which I added a mirror and I also painted the leaves on the bottom red.  I also added a little bit of green around a small band.  I also added some more red beads.

I also hand painted the little round berries for decoration and added some green under it.

This is what the finished project looks like.  I also put on a picture of what it looks like lit up.

This is what the item looks like lit up.  The angels wings light up due to the fact they are made of glass.  Any type of lamp and decorations can make any ordinary item into something unique and beautiful.    This beautiful praying angel would make a nice night light for a child's room or even for someone special.  It's unique!! I hope this gives you some ideas of your own to try.  There is so many different ways to use old lamp fixtures and knick knacks, the list go on ......
