Make a minature lamp for a dollhouse with a toothpaste tube

I needed to make a lamp today for a dollhouse. I used a toothpaste cap and the area that the cap goes on. I first take the part that the cap screws on and cut it off, this will be the base of my lamp. The cap on top which is blue gets glued onto the base as you can see in the photos. You might want to spray paint the base before gluing them together. I like the brass look on this lamp. Next take a piece of material you will be making slits on the bottom edges so it fits nicely. the top area of the material I also make slits so I can fold the material to the inside of the cap, make sure you glue it down to the inside. I also used a juice container ring and the stopper to cover the top opening where the material was glued down into the top area. I spray painted the stopper gold the ring I left white. The ring I glued on the top to make it look decorative and also added beads to the top. You can use beads, lace anything to make it decorative.

Here is the toothpaste container

Here's the toothpaste I used it off of.

On top is the cap, the bottom is the part that the cap screws on to. I spray painted the bottom part before gluing them together.

This is the material with the slits on the bottom.

This is the bottom glued down and slits in the top area that gets glued to the inside of the cap.

In this picture you can see the little stopper that I painted gold and glued it down to hide the material that has been glued down to the inside.

Another view of the top area.

Here is a picture of the juice container piece I cut for the two pieces.

I also added beads to the top.

The finished lamp.  I hope this gives you some ideas.

I needed a floor for the kitchen I used a plastic bag from the store Target

This is a target bag they have rows of red dots on them

You will need a piece of cardboard for the base of the floor.

I used a cardboard box bottom that paper came in.  I assembled the strips of the Target bags and used mod podge to glue the down to the cardboard.

I then cut the piece down to the size of the kitchen floor

I glued the cardboard down to the floor with wood glue.  Think of what other plastic bags you could use for flooring and murals.  I put a layer of mod podge on top f the floor to make it shiny.

A dollhouse I'm working on right now

On the ceiling I put a mural. The picture is from a calender, I framed it with large Popsicle sticks. The toilet seat is made from a facial type tube. The toilet tank is my vanilla extract bottle, which was cut in half I used the bottom of the bottle which I turned upside down. The toilet seat is glued on to half of a plastic soap dish top (which I bought from the dollar store).  I used Popsicle sticks to frame around the toilet base and the underside of the whole thing.  Looks like someone left the door open there goes the toilet paper again!

In this picture you can see items that I wrote about. But in the picture is the top of the vanilla extract bottle, I used the bottom. Keep watching my blog the top of the bottle I will be turning into a clock for this dollhouse.

I glued them together with a hot glue gun.

Here is a view of the underside.

Here's a side view.

I also cut a piece of green foam for a toilet seat, for those who like soft seats.

Here's another view.  I also added a piece of blue foam board on the tank top.  You will also see some perfume bottles which are made from jewelry pieces.  You can use your imagination.

Another view of this room.

A toilet paper holder made from a plastic bird ladder for doll house

In this picture you can see what's left of a black plastic bird ladder, which I will be cutting off a piece for the holder.  You can also see some toilet paper, you will need more toilet paper and a piece of cardboard from a cereal box.  You will also need a cap off the top of some bottle.

In this picture you can see the toilet paper holder with toilet paper on it.  On the bottom is cap which I painted the top with green nail polish.  I put a slit into the cap and installed the piece I cut from the bird ladder.  I bend the edge up to hold the toilet paper on.  The cardboard from the cereal box I cut a strip and glued the ends together.  I then cut some toilet paper and wrapped it around the cardboard.  Make sure you glue the beginning of the toilet paper to the cardboard so it doesn't unravel.  When you finish rolling on toilet paper put alittle glue on it to hold it down into place.

This is wallpapering on did it the dollhouse so far.

I use scrapbooking paper for wallpaper, you have a large choice of styles and colors.  This is a lot cheaper then buying dollhouse wallpaper.

You can see another room that's been wallpapered.  Note the electrical covers that are installed around the Windows.

How to make bathroom tiles for your dollhouse using foam craft sheets

In this picture you can see the sheet of crafting foam, I decided on this color for around the bath tub area.  I also used it for under the bathtub for a tiled floor.

The first thing I did was cut up tiles for the size I needed.  I used a razor knife for this, you could also use scissors.

You can see the area where I installed the foam tiles, use glue to glue them in place.  Make sure you paint the wall in that area first with the color you want the grout to be.  Space the tiles apart so you can see the grout color between the tiles.  The floor in the bathroom is scrapbooking paper which I glued down with mod podge.  I also put mod podge on top of the paper to give a shiny look.  Keep watching my blog I will be showing other items you can make.

Working on another dollhouse, making window trim out of electrical covers

This is what the dollhouse looked like when I got it.  Notice the random tiles on the house which I am removing.  House has no plastic in the Windows.  I use plastic from fast food containers for the Windows.

Here is one of the outlet covers, I will be cutting out the center with a dremel.

In this picture you can see the electrical outlet covers installed on some of the Windows.  I just painted the brown with a burgundy color paint.  I also painted the house, and fixed the Windows.

You can see in this photo the inside of the dollhouse at this point.  I also installed the same covers on the inside of the Windows.  Hopefully this shows you a different way of looking at electrical covers.  These ones are plastic, but you can also use wooden ones.  I also started doing some wallpapering, I use scrapbooking paper for wallpaper.

A lamp for a dollhouse made from coffee pieces and other items

These are the items I will be using.  Two of the holders for making coffee in a keurig which one is red and the other black.  Two candlestick holders. Also I'm using some of the pieces off a clock from another project I worked on.

The first thing I did was glue on two of the circles, that I cut off the clock piece to the tops.  These will be my lamp shades.

I then glued the coffee pieces onto the candlestick holders.

In this picture I'm showing you how tall they are.  Now these are nice standing lamps for a dollhouse, and if you want you could also install electric inside the coffee holders.

Making a nice statue holder out of a clock and lamp

This is the finished piece I'll try to explain how to do it.  The bottom part is a lamp, the base of this lamp is heavy white marble and it had a decorative piece above it.  I took out all the electric and took the top of the lamp off I just wanted these pieces for the base.  The top piece was a clock with a piece on the inside that moved around in circles.  When I took out the piece that went around in circles I used it for my next project which I will post next.  After taking everything out of the clock I put a piece of sticky black glittery felt on the back wall and glued a picture of Jesus on the back wall.  I then installed a statue of the last supper.  You could use any statue you like and any background.

Here's a closer view of the top.

Here's a closer view of the bottom.  I almost forgot I also put some round gray beads on the inside of the glass piece of the lamp for decoration.  I hope this gives you some ideas! Look at my next blog for what I did with some of the clock pieces.

2 lights bought at Lincoln park township wide made into solar light scenes

These are what the two lights looked like when I purchased them at the township wide garage sale.  They were both powered by electric.  As you can see there were fake flowers on the inside.  Under the lights there is a bag of Disney princesses, I will be using two of them for my project.

The next thing I did was take off the tops and took out the flowers. I then took out the electrical parts.

This is what the tops looked like.

I cut the tops off the top pieces so I could install solar lights in the tops.  I also spray painted them so they had a fresh coat of paint.

I also cut off the tops of the bottom parts.  I also gave them a fresh coat of black paint.

I then applied sparkle foam on the back walls and foam board with sparkle foam for the flooring.

This is another view of the inside.

I then glued on mirrors to the back walls

In this picture you can see one of the light fixtures which I added the beauty figure from beauty and the beast, some beaded trim, also i made a little stand next to her out of a small candlestick with pieces of jewelry added to the top.  I also added some fake flowers.

This is what it looks like with the top put back on.

This is the second light which I added Cinderella, flowers and I also made a little decorative stand made from a small candlestick and pieces of jewelry.

This is what it looks like with the top put on.

In this picture you can see a solar light installed on top and it lights up on the inside.  Both of these fixtures can be hung up outside or the inside of a home.  The next two pictures are both hung outside.

Here's the Cinderella one, during the day it charges from the sun at night it lights up.

Here is beauty from beauty and the beast.  These would also look great on the inside of a home in a child's room for a night light as long as you take the solar caps off and charge them in the sun during the daytime.  I hope this shows you what you can make from an electrical light.
