Making a beautiful night light with a solar light

Here's what the solar lights look like, I use a lot of them. Your can purchase them at Walmart for 97 cents each.  We will be using the black cap part that's where the solar panel and light is.

I got this beautiful ornament from a flea market really cheap. Why was it cheap you might ask? Because it had no LED in the candle.

You can see in this photo it was a Hallmark ornament, well time to light it up.

Here's the part of the solar light we are using. See how it lights right up when the panel is in darkness?

If you look on the bottom you will see how I just put the solar piece right into the hole on the bottom. Instant light! Just make sure that you keep the rest of the solar light stick so you can recharge the light in the sun, then when you want the ornament to light up put the black cap back in the ornament.  There are so many ornaments that you can light up with a solar light.  Think of how many times you are having a party in a hall and are looking for a unique centerpiece something that hasn't been done before.  If the solar light is charged in the sunlight all say it will stay lit for your party all night.  Use your imagination and it will soar!

Making an optical illusion floor for a dollhouse

The first thing you need to do is go on Google images and find a picture that you like for the floor this is the picture I found.

The next thing is to glue the picture down on the floor. Take note of the colors that are in the picture. Start blending colors together and make the colors lighter and darker, you can see in the next picture what I did.  There are many 3d looking images on Google check them out and remember use your imagination and it will soar!

How to make miniature records

First you will need some plastic, I will cut it to the size I need.  I like the plastic that you get pastry items in at ShopRite. The plastic can be seen in the photo.

I then use a poker chip to make circles for the records out of the plastic.  The picture shows a poker chip that I made perfume bottles on it.  I used it just to make the circles so I didn’t have to go to my craft room.

I am showing you the tool I used to make scratch marks on the records.  You can use anything that you can make scratch marks with.

Next you will see the plastic circle with the scratch marks I made on it.

I then painted it black, and after it dried I painted a circle in the middle with red paint.  Then you add a small black circle in the middle for where the record gets put onto the record player.

I used these records for on a wall in a music room I made in a dollhouse, it can be seen in this photo.

Just use your imagination and it will soar!

How to make fake bricks on dollhouse chimney

Here is the fireplace chimney I’m going to make into fake brick.

The first thing I did was paint whites lines on the chimney making the lines as wide as I want my bricks to be.

The next thing is to draw lines going up and down for the length of the bricks.  Make sure you stagger the lines from one line to the next as you can see in the photo.

You do this all the way down the chimney and this is what it will look like.

This is another view of the chimney.  You can use this technique for different items.  Use your imagination and it will soar!

Making an Aladdin themed room for a dollhouse

This is the Aladdin themed room, as you can see you can take a small area in an attic space in your dollhouse and turn your imagination into something unique for a child to love.
For the inside area of the triangle on the wall where the window is, I used a paper napkin that had a design on it.  If you have decorative paper napkins you can use mod podge to put them on the walls.  I chose this design, it’s easier to match up and make everything look the way it does.  The area is a strange shape to work with. The wallpaper I chose is the pink one you see on the left in the picture, which I use tacky glue to glue it onto the walls.
You can download all types of designs from the internet, I thought I'd use this one...
I wanted to put in a long bench under the window area, so I measured the space and cut two different pieces of wood, one for the base and one for the top of the bench.  I glued them both together and added a piece of gold paper trim that you see in the picture to the front of the bench. I then added some half round glass jewels to the front.
This is the wood with the gold trim on it.  >>-------->
In this picture I am showing you pieces off a plastic dollhouse that I took apart. The mirror, the poles, the little jewel jar looking thing, the two blue cloud looking items. I put Aladdin in one and Jasmin in the other.  I also put red velvet material on the seat area under the window.
In this picture you can see spherical styrofoam purple balls at the bases of the columns. I also added a little flower arrangement. Just use your imagination, and it will soar!

  2. Mod Podge
  3. Scrap Wood (For the Window Seat)
  4. Gold Paper Trim
  5. Half Round Glass Jewels
  6. Velvet (Like) Material
  7. Printer w/paper

Fixing a collector Necco Gremlin, made of a heavy resin type material

The gremlin can be seen in this photo.  Both arms were broken off, the right ear was broken off the spike on the back of it was cracked on the bottom area and was about to fall off.  There were also large chunks missing out of it. You can see the one arm in this photo. The back of both knees had cracks that needed to be repaired also.

In this picture you can see the other arm that was broken off and large chunks that were missing.

In this photo this is one of the ears that was broken off.  In a moment I will tell you what I used for the glue, not something that you pay a lot of money for but something different.

Here’s what the one arm looked like when I glued it together.  You can see a chunk missing out of the arm on top.

In this photo you can see both the arms had the chunks that were missing filled and also glued together.

In this picture you can see the spike is cracked.

In this picture you can see where i repaired the spike.
This is the back of the gremlin once the repairs with the glue were made.

This is a side view.

This is the finished statue after it was painted with paint to match.  The glue that i used was wood glue mixed with flour, yes flour.  Strange combination but first you put wood glue into a throw away type plastic cup ( i use yogurt cups) and add enough flour to make a thick consistancy if you add to much flour add some more wood glue stir with a popsicle stick.  You will use this to fill cracks and to glue pieces together.  For the areas that have large chunks missing first you fill the hole with the same stuffing material you use for filling a pillow then you put this mixture over top of the hole and smooth out with a popsicle stick, sometimes i will use my finger, this mixture can be scrubbed off your hands with a scrub sponge thats what i use As it sets it smoothes out itself.  This can also be used for outside statues made of a resin material.  When it sets it will be as hard as a rock.  There were only 500 of these statues made, it was truly a piece to fix and not discard.  Why throw out a statue when you can fix it and make it appear new again.  Gizmo has his friend back again!
